Who We Are
The Tangiteroria Community Complex holds a special place in the local community, providing an important hub for whānau gatherings, community events and a venue for families, businesses and organisations looking for a relaxed space to bring people together.
The much-loved original complex provided an important heart to the community for many years, before it was destroyed by a fire in 2020. After fundraising effort and countless working bees by the community, the complex reopened its doors in September 2023, complete with a dedicated sports hall, welcoming function space for meetings and social events, a fully equipped kitchen, international-standard squash court and boardroom.
This modern facility offers versatile spaces for hire, as well as the latest in technology, including full wifi throughout, sound systems and more.
The complex is situated in a beautiful rural setting, just 15 minutes from Whangārei and 10 minutes from Dargaville, surrounded by farmland. The complex is also ideal for larger gatherings such as weddings and car or caravan club gatherings, with ample parking and space for tents, caravans, or overflow vehicles.
Our Values
- We provide a hub for our community, where all and EVERYONE is welcome.
- We create a place for our communities to come together and social connection for everyone within our Tangiteroria and outlying rural areas.
- We have built a multi-purpose facility for everyone to access and have the opportunity to participate in community activities and events, sports etc.
- We have increased community connectedness and a sense of belonging for everyone of all ages and stages.
- We support initiatives that can respond to the needs of our community eg fundraising events and other initiatives by providing a safe place to undertake this.
- We are actively engaging in venue hire opportunities to support our community using our place as a Member.
- The building sustains the community for many reasons, as well as the community sustains/maintains the building and the reason for it being there. That sustaining/maintaining is an act that in itself brings a community together, therefore building stronger communities and community resilience.
