Our History

The Tangiteroria Community Complex reopened in September 2023 after a fire destroyed the much-loved original complex. Funded and built by the community, this modern facility offers versatile spaces for hire.

Our history

Tangiteroria Community Complex was built by a strong community of farming families who got together to raise funds, some of which were also involved in the building of the hall where they used treated timber from the surrounding farms. It was a project that took six and a half years to complete. The hall was officially opened on the 4th of July 1987 by Colonel Tom Ward.

It has since been used for a variety of events from birthdays, weddings, funerals, political events and flood & drought meetings.

A small but committed group of residents manage it voluntarily according to the constitution and it registered as a charitable trust.

Our Community gathered on Friday 25th April 2025 to commemorate our local soldiers who fought and died in WW1 and WW2 and those that fought for our freedom.
